Bacardi Ltd has unveiled a new global marketing program for its flagship rum. The campaign, which will utilize television, out-of-home, print and digital ads, is titled “Spirit of Bacardi.”

After having enormous success with upscale vodka Ketel One, Nolet Spirits USA has turned its attention to a new category: liqueurs. The Orange County, California-based spirits marketer recently introduced Harlem kruiden (herbal) liqueur to the U.S. market. Harlem, meant to be served as an ice-cold shot, has rolled out in 14 states, including New York, California, Florida, Texas and Illinois.

Pernod Ricard posted an organic sales decline of 4% for its fiscal first quarter, ended September 30th, but was encouraged by the strength of sales in emerging markets such as China and India and the first gain in U.S. depletions it’s experienced since summer of 2008.

New Beam Global President and CEO Matt Shattock is putting his imprint on the business, implementing a reorganization of Beam’s operations at both the U.S. and international levels. Under the changes, Beam’s U.S. commercial marketing will be aligned under three subgroups—Bourbon, Mixables (including rum, Tequila, vodka and cordials) and Classics (Cognac, Scotch and Canadian whisky).
Lapcewich Appointed President, Global Tequila

Diageo has appointed Maggie Lapcewich to the position of President, Global Tequila. Lapcewich, who was most recently the head of National Accounts, will report to Larry Schwartz, President of Diageo USA, while also working closely with other regional heads. Meanwhile, Mark Hubler will see his duties expanded from President of Control States to President, Control States & National Accounts. He will report to Kevin O’Neil, who was named the President, U.S. Spirits, National Accounts & Sales Development.

Constellation Brands continues to revamp its U.S. route to market, as it announced an exclusive, multi-year agreement with distributor Young’s Market Company covering the states of Alaska, Oregon and Washington. The new deal is an extension of the existing relationship between Young’s and Constellation, which have been paired in Oregon since 2002.

Pernod Ricard’s Chivas Brothers division has appointed Simon Burley to the position of brand director for Beefeater and Plymouth Gin. Burley joined Chivas Brothers in 2006 from Pernod Ricard Australia, where he worked with the company’s Scotch whiskies.

Cost reductions allowed profits to leap for Constellation Brands in its fiscal second quarter ended August 31, even as sales fell 8%, mostly owing to the company’s divestiture of its value spirits business and currency fluctuations.
