Louis Glazer, former president of the Sigel's liquor store chain in Dallas, Texas, passed away on April 27th at the age of 76. Glazer had a distinguished 50-year career in the liquor industry, which included a long stint at the distributor tier with Glazer's Wholesale Distributors in Dallas.

Las Vegas-based MGM Mirage has revealed plans to construct Atlantic City's largest hotel and casino to date—a three-tower MGM Grand that will feature 3,000 guest rooms and suites, myriad restaurant and nightclub offerings, a large retail space and convention amenities.

Scott Tyree has left his post as wine director and sommelier at Chicago's Tru restaurant and joined the international wine retailer and auction house Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. Starting August 6th, Tyree will head the company's events and marketing programs and will play a vital role in fine wine purchasing.

Sonoma, California-based Freixenet USA has begun importing an Australian wine line created by professional golfer Nick Faldo. Currently including a 2006 Sauvignon Blanc and a 2004 Shiraz, Nick Faldo Selection wines are produced by winemaker Wayne Stehbens at the Katnook Estate on the Limestone Coast in Coonawarra, South Australia.

John Byrne, a 12-year veteran of the New Hampshire State Liquor Commission (NHSLC) and a 1997 Market Watch Leader, has taken the newly created job of control state director at Rémy Cointreau USA. Byrne took the post in April and is working to strengthen the spirits and wine distributor's relationship with control states.
