Lajaunie Plans to Open Kosher Hotel in Miami

Former Judson Grill Chef To Open Own Restaurant

Bill Telepan, who has been looking at spaces and fielding job offers since the closing of Manhattan's Judson Grill last July, has firmed up plans for a place of his own. In March the ink dried on a deal for him to take over the Santa Fe Restaurant space, at 72 West 69th St.

Orient Express Acquires First West Coast Hotel

The London- and NYC-based Orient-Express Hotels, Trains & Cruises acquired its first West Coast property with the purchase of El Encanto Hotel and Garden Villas in Santa Barbara. The company plans to close the property in the fall for a $10 million revamp, restoring the historic buildings and bringing 1970s additions in line with the property's overall California Craftsman/Spanish Colonial Revival style.

Grant Achatz Opens Alinea in Chicago

Third Old Homestead To Open in Bethesda

In April, brothers Marc and Greg Sherry will open a third outpost of their New York City steakhouse Old Homestead, at 7501 Wisconsin Ave. in Bethesda, MD. No word yet on the exec chef. High ceilings and zebra wood give the 240-seater a less traditional steakhouse vibe than the original.

Minneapolis To Gain Hotel and Restaurant

Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Phil Suarez have set their sights on Minneapolis for their next Asian-themed venture. The yet-to-be-named spot will be located in the Chambers hotel, sister to NYC's Chambers, and is the brainchild of Ira Drukier (BD Hotels) and local real estate magnate Ralph Burnet.

New Healdsburg Hotel To Debut Restaurant
