Bay Area's Fifth Floor Loses Executive Chef

Executive Chef Laurent Gras sent shock waves throughout the San Francisco dining scene in October when he left Fifth Floor. He plans to move back to NYC. "The Fifth Floor and San Francisco have been a great experience for me," Gras notes. "I'm at the point in my career where I want to have my own place, so I'll be working toward that goal when I get back." Fifth Floor recruited the astonishingly young and talented Melissa Perello, of the recently shuttered Charles Nob Hill, to take over as top toque.
