South African wine producer Two Oceans has rolled out two new varietals as well as a refreshed image across its portfolio. The two new wines, Two Oceans Merlot and Two Oceans Cabernet Sauvignon, join the label’s existing offerings of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz and a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The new wines are making their global debut and will have a national launch in the U.S.
Two Ocean’s image makeover includes a new single-band label that depicts South Africa’s Cape Peninsula, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans merge and provide the name for the brand. Each of the label’s six varietals have a suggested retail price of $7.99. Two Oceans, which is owned by South Africa’s Distell Group, is imported by Aveníu Brands. Aveníu also imports Distell’s Durbanville Hills wine portfolio and Amarula Cream liqueur; both products of South Africa. Distell noted that Two Oceans was able to successfully “defy the downturn in key markets” during the second half of 2009.
