Following the announcement of the departure of Phil Humphreys last
month, Diageo has named Jane Ewing as its new managing director for
the Global Travel Retail and Middle East (GTME) division. The
appointment is effective July 26th. Ewing, who joined Diageo in 1992,
ascends from her current position as regional director for GTME’s
Middle East and North Africa business (her successor in that role has
yet to be announced). She’ll report to Stuart Fletcher, president,
Diageo International.

Ewing takes over a travel retail unit that is the biggest market by
volume for Diageo’s Johnnie Walker Scotch brand, the most valuable
global spirits brand by retail sales, at roughly $4.2 billion in 2009.
Global travel retail accounts for 10% of Johnnie Walker’s annual
volume, with the U.S., at 9%, being its next largest market, according
to Impact Databank.
