Diageo North America honored its distributor partners earlier this week at its 7th annual Golden Bar Awards event at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. A total of 34 statuettes were awarded to leading spirits, wine and beer distributors around the U.S., including recognition for "distributor of the year" for each of the three categories.

Diageo NA named Wirtz Beverage of Illinois (a division of Wirtz Beverage Group, helmed by Rocky Wirtz, whose Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup last month) spirits distributor of the year; Atlantic Wine & Spirits, a division of Empire Merchants, wine distributor of the year; and Premium Distributors of Washington, DC, beer distributor of the year.

Ivan Menezes, president and ceo of Diageo NA, commended the honorees, saying, "We honor and applaud the achievements of the best of the best among us. What makes our winners truly spectacular is that they show all of us what we can do when we are at our best—even under challenging conditions.”
